2025 NFL Draft

Boise State RB Ashton Jeanty announces intention to enter 2025 NFL Draft

Boise State RB Ashton Jeanty, the 2024 Heisman Trophy runner-up, declared his intention to enter the 2025 NFL Draft in a social media post .

Jeanty, a junior, earned the second-highest rushing-yards total in college football history this season with 2,601 yards, trailing only the 2,628 that Barry Sanders ran for during his brilliant 1988 Heisman campaign.

Jeanty finished second to Colorado WR/CB Travis Hunter in the Heisman voting and led the Broncos to their first College Football Playoff berth. Boise State lost to Penn State in the quarterfinals, with Jeanty rushing for 104 yards on 30 carries in the 31-14 defeat.

Jeanty earned his second Mountain West Offensive Player of the Year award in 2024, setting school and conference records for rush yards and rushing TDs (29) in a season. In 40 career games, he totaled 4,769 rush yards and 50 rushing TDs, along with 80 receptions for 862 yards and six more scores.

With the run game cycling back into a more prominent role in NFL offenses, it will be fascinating to see how he'll be valued in this year's draft.

His contact balance is rare. Jeanty can pinball off tackle attempts and keep rumbling downhill. He also possesses outstanding vision as a runner and can be a three-down weapon. Jeanty only caught 23 passes for 138 yards and a TD in 2024, but he was a highly productive receiver (43-569-5 in 2023) earlier in his career.

His transcendent season -- coupled with at least somewhat of a running back renaissance in the NFL -- puts him squarely on the radar as one of the top prospects to watch leading up to the 2025 draft.
