Quarterback Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams agreed to terms Sunday on an adjusted contract, but more details have been unveiled.
Stafford's adjustment includes a $23.5 million guaranteed salary in 2024, a $12.5 million signing bonus and a $4 million guaranteed March roster bonus, NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero reported Tuesday evening.
Essentially, it's a one-year, $40 million deal as Stafford gave up his other 2025 guarantees, Pelissero noted, adding the quarterback and the Rams are likely to play out this season and then reassess.
Though Stafford and the squad came to an understanding that an adjustment would be had, which led to him reporting to training camp on time, the parties did not come to terms until Sunday, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported.
The 36-year-old led the Rams to a Super Bowl in his first season with the club after he was acquired from the Detroit Lions in a seismic trade that re-shaped both franchises. Stafford battled injuries in a down 2022, but though he had some more ailments in 2023, he rounded back into form and keyed L.A.'s playoff return.
Still possessing a top-level arm, Stafford threw for 3,965 yards, 24 touchdowns and 11 interceptions in 15 games.
Now, the veteran has one big season ahead for himself and the Rams.
