Seahawks trading Jerome Baker, fourth-round pick to Titans for Ernest Jones in linebacker swap

Ernest Jones IV is headed back to the NFC West.

The Tennessee Titans traded Jones to the Seattle Seahawks on Wednesday in exchange for veteran linebacker Jerome Baker and a fourth-round draft pick, NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero reported, per sources informed of the deal.

The Titans acquired Jones in August in a trade with the Los Angeles Rams for a 2026 pick swap (fifth round for a sixth round). Flipping him two months later for a fourth-rounder and another player is pretty good work by GM Ran Carthon. On the heels of Wednesday morning's DeAndre Hopkins news, it's clear Carthon is burning up the phones ahead of the Nov. 5 NFL trade deadline.

Jones continued his stellar play from L.A. to Tennessee, where he helped lead a stout Titans defense that leads the NFL in total yards per game allowed (272.2). In six games, Jones has generated 44 tackles, three for loss and two passes defended. He's on pace for a third consecutive 100-plus tackle season.

The NFC West-leading Seahawks had a glaring need up the middle of their defense, which has been run over at times this season. Baker started five games this season in Seattle, earning 30 tackles, two for loss, and a sack.

Jones now has a chance to face his former Rams teammates twice this season, Week 9 and Week 18.
