Titans QB Will Levis to start vs. Chargers after three weeks sidelined by shoulder injury

Will Levis' absence will conclude this weekend when he returns to the Titans' starting lineup.

Levis (right shoulder) will resume his duties under center Sunday when Tennessee takes on the Los Angeles Chargers, coach Brian Callahan announced Friday.

Levis suffered the injury in Week 4 when he dived for a first down, landing on his throwing shoulder. He eventually exited the game and was replaced by Mason Rudolph in the 31-12 win over the Miami Dolphins.

Given the benefit of an early bye to rest, Levis returned to the starting lineup in Week 6, completing 16 of 27 passes for 95 yards, one touchdown and one interception in a 20-17 loss to the Colts. After that game, it became clear Levis needed more time to heal, heading to the bench for the next three weeks while Rudolph took over.

Tennessee has had a rough go in 2024, regardless of whoever is playing quarterback. Levis has produced flashes of production, but has often made mind-numbing mistakes that have contributed to their defeats.

Rudolph, meanwhile, has performed with a lower ceiling, keeping the offense afloat while lacking big-play capability. He compiled his best game in an overtime win over New England last week, completing 60.6 percent of his passes for two touchdowns and an interception.

With the Titans all but out of playoff contention at 2-6, evaluating Levis might take priority over solely focusing on winning games. They'll try to do both this weekend against a Chargers team that is building steam, winning three of their last four entering Sunday.
