Jamal Adams has found a place to continue his career.
The safety is signing a one-year contract with the Tennessee Titans, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported, which is largely a prove-it deal for the former first-round pick.
The team later confirmed the signing.
Adams' career, at least as of late, hasn't seen much activity. He's appeared in just 10 games combined over the last two seasons, and hasn't truly made a meaningful difference since the 2021 season, in which he finished with 87 tackles, five passes defensed, four tackles for loss and two interceptions in 12 contests.
As Adams approaches 29 years old in October, it became clear the Seahawks weren't going to make an effort to keep the safety for whom Seattle once sent multiple first-round picks to the Jets in a 2020 trade. Instead, Adams was left to find employment elsewhere.
After a prolonged free agency that began in early March, Adams has found a home in Nashville, putting pen to paper on a deal offered by a familiar face in Titans general manager Ran Carthon, whose father, Maurice, played with Adams' father in the NFL in the mid-to-late 1980s.
Adams fits into a Titans defense that is surprisingly fascinating, at least on paper. Established names like Jeffery Simmons and L'Jarius Sneed headline it, but Carthon's recent work is visible throughout, with Adams joining a group that also welcomed Chidobe Awuzie, Kenneth Murray and Arden Key in the offseason, as well as massive Texas defensive tackle T'Vondre Sweat, who joins the Titans via a second-round pick in April's draft.
It feels a bit like a team welcoming some mercenaries into the fold, but considering how last season went for the Titans, there's no better time than now to welcome a collection of veterans to a roster in need of some direction. If Adams stays healthy, he should be able to provide such assistance.
